President-elect Joe Biden’s niece, Caroline Biden, avoided jail time for a DUI after pleading guilty to the charge December 3.
Instead, the judge sentenced the 33-year-old Biden to 20 days to six months of “confinement,” according to Pennsylvania court records.
The “confinement,” as part of the plea deal, included the 20-day stint she spent in rehab, the
New York Postreported.
She also received five months of probation as part of the plea deal.
“She will be on probation … Should she then violate or break the law at any time, then she will be on the hook for the rest of the sentence,” Kate Delano, a DA spokesperson, told the
Mike Gottlieb, a
Norristown, Pa., attorney with experience in DUI cases, said the ruling was fair for a first offense. ‘It is not an unusual sentence to get credit for the time in the rehab. So truthfully, I don’t think she was treated any differently than any of my clients would have been,’ he told nypost.
While the DUI may have been Caroline Biden’s first offense in Pennsylvania, her New York rap sheet includes dropping more than $110,000 on a
allegedly assaulting an NYPD officer during a 2013 ‘incident’ involving her then roommate.
In a 2017 court hearing, Biden admitted to using an unidentified victim’s credit card at C.O. Bigelow Apothecary in the West Village of Manhattan between April 2015 and June 2016.

President-elect Joe Biden s 33-year-old niece is getting no jail time for crashing her car into a tree while she was on drugs. Caroline Biden pleaded guilty to DUI on December 3, 2020, and was sentenced to 20 days to six months of âconfinement,â Pennsylvania court records said.
The records reveal that after Caroline arranged a deal with the Montgomery County district attorney, she was given a specific number of confinement days, which means, she will avoid jail, and instead serve 20 days of rehab followed by five months of probation. This isn t the first time when Biden s family members got discounted for their acts. The New York Post reported in July 2020 that at least eight other incidents involving members of the Biden family had seen the family avoid a jail term.
