“LOST in Transit” is billed as Canberra’s very first all transgender original musical. Written by and starring a local gender-diverse cast who traverse the wacky experiences of being trans and gender diverse, it was created by Tuggeranong Arts Centre in collaboration with performance artist and community builder Kat Reed (recently named 2021 Young Canberra Citizen of the Year) and artist and vocal coach Dianna Nixon from Wild Voices Music Theatre. CANBERRA activist Kat Reed hopes to raise the profile of diverse young people in the community after being recently named Young Canberra Citizen of the Year.
The 25-year-old received the award at an event held earlier this month, and says it will bring more attention to people who identify as LGBTQIA+, are living with a disability and are from an ethnically diverse background.
we were in portland, reed college, freshman college year a poignant time in life where you re very much trying to figure out what the world is about and what you re interested in. how did you guys meet? oh, well, at reed, reed was a pastoral environment so there was a lot of hanging out going on. but steve and i developed a friendship when we figured out that we had both read this amazing book called be here now which is about psychedelics and spirituality. steve was my best friend at the time of life when i was dis covering all of this huge current of eastern literature. all of a sudden, psychedelics were being introduced into the mix of traditional spirit actuality and i was just fascinated. do you remember the first time you did psychedelics together? no, not really. we were just kind of walking around. i think we used to go for hikes. i think we camped out on the
let s talk about the state s time line during the trial and what you think the holes of it are? this is raised by the new evidence. the state s time line is based on jimmy fennell who was allegedly asleep at the time. at reed s trial, the travis county medical examiner gave forensic confirmation of fennell s time line. estimating stacey s time of death 3:00 a.m. but in 2012 he recanted much of his testimony, including his original estimate of a 3:00 a.m. time of death. noting it should not have been used at trial as an accurate statement of when stites died. according to the state s original case against reed stites was killed sometime after she left her apartment for work. the state s argument is this that stacey stites had a 3:30 a.m. shift at the grocery store. she would have gotten up around 2:50 or so and would have
couple of weeks here, that pulse away from the messaging coming out of the white house. how might these controversies, the irs and the nsa, help or hurt the bill s momentum? you know, it s been helping. in a lot of ways, it helped the bill get through some of the critical stages with the committee. all the attention was off of this bill so they could just work and there wasn t there wasn t as much pressure. now that the focus now that the they are debating this on the floor, going to be a little bit, see increasing focus on this, from the public. and especially when you have bills like steve king s that passed last week in the white house, that would end with it would rescind the president s executive orderer for allowing dreamers to stay in the united states. so, i think there will be pieces that draw public attention and that i mean, it depends on which chamber we are talking about, whether that helps or hurts the bill, i guess the long and short of t reed are you were me
