The Yukon government said the water level around the community decreased by 90 centimetres since Sunday afternoon as a result of an ice jam upstream of Blue Fish River, a tributary of the Porcupine River, that partially broke.

A government spokesperson says that though water levels continue to rise as the snow melt tapers off, it’s the amount and timing of rain events that will ultimately determine how much higher levels could go.
