Assembly members in West Akim Municipality say the traditional leaders who are demanding the removal of the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) of the area, Oduro Boadu are known members of the opposition NDC.
The Assemblymember for the Abukyen electoral area, Anyars Abdullai in an interview with Kasapa News said all members of the governing NPP are rooting for the retention of the MCE in the second term of President Akufo-Addo.
“The criticisms against our MCE are fictional and are being led by members of the NDC in the traditional council and we know them. The MCE has excellent human relations and his works are unprecedented. This is somebody under whose tenure the Traditional leaders themselves have benefited greatly from it. For instance, the palace where the so-called members of the Traditional Council held their meeting to campaign against his re-nomination, the MCE managed to drill a 5000-metre borehole for them among other projects,” Abukyen Assemblyman told Kasapa 102.5
GH¢450 ex-gratia sparks anger in Okere District Assembly
Some former Assembly Members of Okere District Assembly in the Eastern Region are seething with anger over meagre GH¢450 paid as ex-gratia to each member.
According to the agitating former Assembly members, the amount should be increased to at least GH¢1,000.
“They told us our ex-gratia was ready so we should come for it only to notice Ghc450 envelopes as ex-gratia. They said it was Ghc500 but they have deducted tax. This is an insult to us. Having served the assembly this is what they are giving to us. we the first session of Assembly members sacrificed a lot for the assembly because it is a new District. Even during the confirmation of the current DCE, we all agreed that we are not going to take money from him before we confirm him and even the presiding member contrary to convention in other assemblies. So if at the end of the day you give us this meagre amount as ex-gratia that is disrespecting,” a former Assembly
Appoint NDC members into your govt - GPCC to Akufo-Addo
The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has urged President-elect Nana Addo Dankw Akufo-Addo to appoint competent members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) into his government.
According to the Council, this will ensure national cohesion especially as Ghana almost has a hung Parliament following the results of the December 7, 2020, Parliamentary election.
Per Ghana’s Constitution, the President is required to appoint most of his Ministers from Parliament.
Currently, results for 274 seats out of the 275 parliamentary seats have been officially declared with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) securing 137 parliamentary seats as against the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won 136 seats.
