THE regionâs health department has applauded the 2000 nurses and midwives who work across the West Moreton in hospitals and in the community.
To mark International Nurses Day on Wednesday and International Day of the Midwife on May 5, West Moreton Health honoured four healthcare professionals for their work.
Paul DâArcy was named Nurse of the Year for his work as a theatre scrub/scout registered nurse and clinical nurse Stephanie Harlow was named Preceptor Nurse of the Year.
Ms Harlow, whose work centres around educating and mentoring, said she tailored learning and development opportunities to the needs of the individual.

A COVID-19 vaccination hub will open in Ipswich on Thursday with healthcare workers the first to get the jab.
West Moreton Health will begin vaccinating its staff with the AstraZeneca vaccine at Ipswich Hospital.
“Initially, the AstraZeneca vaccine will be administered to West Moreton Health staff in the 1A priority group,” West Moreton Health executive director for nursing and midwifery Karyn Ehren said. Ipswich Hospital will be the home to a AstraZeneca vaccination hub from Thursday.
“These are staff who are at greatest risk of exposure to COVID-19, and who have chosen to receive the vaccine locally.

Subscriber only WHILE last year proved a quiet one for most businesses, doctors and nurses at Ipswich Hospital s birthing suites appeared to have been run off their feet. New data by West Morton Health has revealed a total 2577 babies - or about seven per day - were born at the hospital for 2020. Despite Ipswich s growing population, there was a slight decrease comapred to the 2731 bubs born the year prior. The majority of the adorable newborns were male, with 1332 boys born - a trend which continued on from 2019. Last year proved a close margin in the battle of the sexes, with only 87 more boys born compared to the 1245 girls.
