The Karnataka transport department has made it mandatory for vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, to have high-security registration plates (HSRP) starting from November 17. Failure to comply will result in penalties ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000. HSRPs have unique features that make tampering virtually impossible, aiming to standardize registration plates and enhance road safety.
