As per the Election Commission, Dinesh Gundu Rao, who contested from the Gandhinagar Assembly seat, managed to win by 105 votes - the smallest margin in the state - against BJP's Sapthagiri Gowda.
Instead of reacting to what BJP was doing, the Congress focussed on development, elaborating on how the issue of rising prices, poor infrastructure and shrinking incomes was not being addressed by the BJP sufficiently.
The win in the Karnataka Assembly Election win is the fourth for the Congress they are in power in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. The party is a part of a coalition in Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Bihar
