After days of speculations and negotiations, the Congress is set to announce the Karnataka chief minister by Thursday evening. Reportedly, Siddaramaiah will be appointed as chief minister and D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy chief minister. The swearing-in ceremony is likely to be held in Bengaluru on Saturday (May 20)
Ending the deadlock in the formation of the Karnataka government, the Congress party decided to go ahead with Siddaramaiah as the Chief Minister and DK Shivakumar as his Deputy
The meeting comes a day after Siddaramaiah met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence and held discussion with him over government formation.
Meanwhile, supporters of both the leaders are also pitching for their respective leaders and the Congress is working on a power-sharing formula to accommodate all sections.
The newly-elected MLAs in Karnataka have already passed a one-line resolution authorising party chief Kharge to appoint the legislature party leader, who will be the new chief minister.
