KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Students at the University of Tennessee Knoxville may not need to pay more tuition next year after the Campus Advisory Board voted Friday to recommend a 0% tuition increase to the Board of Trustees.
Undergraduate students can expect to pay $13,264 for in-state tuition, and $31,684 for out-of-state tuition, according to university officials.
The recommendation was part of a $1.32 billion budget proposal, which will go before the Board of Trustees in June. It also includes $18 million more in state appropriations compared to last year, as well as funding for increases in employee salaries.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Last year, University of Tennessee students elected the university s first-ever Black woman as the student body president Karmen Jones.
At the time, Jones had no idea how big of a task she d be facing. As the student president, she led the school through the COVID-19 pandemic and several racial injustice movements that engulfed communities across the U.S.
When Walker Hoover ran for student body president with the Promise campaign as a sophomore in 2020, he knew that no sophomore student had ever been elected to the position. But, these odds did not stop him from trying to be the first.
Although Hoover was not elected president last year, he has spent his time since the 2020 election considering whether or not he wanted to run again. Ultimately, he decided that he had some unfinished business he hoped to complete at UT and decided to run again with the Volunteer Way campaign.
âI just go back to that simple fact that we did make these promises,â Hoover said. âNone of these promises that Iâve spoken about in the opening were fulfilled, and thatâs why weâre here.â
