Some argue that it started in December 2022 when there was controversy over then-high school Principal Jon Lyons being put on leave for an investigation into his handling of a sexual harassment complaint involving two students. Others say it started before that with the hiring of Superintendent Ted Knight a year earlier.
It has been a rough year for the Carmel Unified School District, with leaders being forced out, unexpected resignations and a growing list of lawsuits. Three of those lawsuits were filed in the last few months, two of which have allegations of sexual harassment at their core.
