When curator Karen M. Gutfreund began working on the exhibition “Deadlocked and Loaded: Disarming America,” she spent time reflecting on gun violence in the United States. The topic, which is as relevant today as it was 20 years ago, remains highly polarized.
Ultimately, Gutfreund developed a large group show currently on display at three Syracuse galleries: ArtRage, Community Folk Art Center, and Point of Contact. The exhibit, featuring works by 36 artists, explores the role of guns in our society and emphasizes the impact of gun-related violence on children, women, and people who are marginalized.
