Artistic Alicia Perryman has won £250 through the Nottingham Building Society Innovative Young People awards.
The commendation follows a remarkable turnaround in life for Alicia, from Newark, who just five years ago, aged 17, turned to the services of a local homelessness charity following family mental health issues and subsequent anxiety and depression of her own.
The awards recognise those aged ten to 21 who have found inspiring ways of furthering their education or boosting career aspirations.
