Eat, drink, breathe cement

Eat, drink, breathe cement Despite several complaints by residents of Mamurdi’s Urban Forest Co-Operative Society to multiple authorities and the cancellation of NOC by the civic body, the RMC plant is still thriving. The lives of over 400 residents, living in the Urban Forest Co-Operative Society at Mamurdi near Dehu Road, have become hell thanks to a ready-mix cement (RMC) plant located just 60 metres from their society. They are suffering multiple health issues and pollution menace due to the plant. Despite repeated complaints, the government authorities did not pay any heed to their woes. Over 90 per cent residents of the society, which is located behind Masulkar Farm near Dehu Road, work in the IT sector. They had selected the society in the outskirts of the city due to lush green surrounding, clean air and peaceful atmosphere, however, the residents lost their peace of mind after the plant came here in December last year.
