Here come the brides: get ready for a wedding season surge
After more than a year of cancelled and postponed nuptials, bridal brands are getting ready for a big occasionwear bounceback.
If there was one sector more impacted than most by empty diaries and cancelled plans, it was the occasionwear market. Research by data insight company Kantar found a dramatic decline in spend in the sector in the height of wedding season: 85% from £500m to £70.7m in the 12 weeks to 28 June 2020 year on year.
But after a year of multiple lockdowns, church bells are now faintly ringing in the distance again – together with the cash tills.
