Police said a suspect intentionally drove his motorcycle at officers during a pursuit that injured a Thomasville police officer Thursday.
On Thursday, March 4 at 1:39 p.m, the Thomasville Police Department was notified that Rowan County law enforcement needed assistance in the pursuit of a motorcycle. The motorcycle, driven by Brian Alexander Bacelli, 28, of Jamestown, had no license plate and was traveling northbound on Interstate 85, according to a news release.
Thomasville police said they set up a mobile roadblock near Kanoy Road, which would have allowed for the motorcycle to safely stop. When Bacelli reached the roadblock, he accelerated rapidly and deliberately struck an officer who had exited his vehicle to take Bacelli into custody, according to the release. Police said as a result of the impact, the officer, Detective Sergeant Joseph Driggers, was knocked back 10-15 feet.

A Thomasville police officer was injured during a pursuit on Thursday, according to a tweet from the police department.
A suspect fled on a motorcycle from Rowan County into Davidson County and was taken into custody by the Thomasville Police Department, police said. During the incident, an officer was injured and was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Health.
South Business 29/70 at Kanoy Road was closed Thursday due to the incident.
