The Nigerian Navy has rescued 18 victims of human trafficking in the Rijiyar Lemu, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State. Director of Information, Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan disclosed this in a statement. The rescue was made at about 10pm, last Saturday, following a tip-off from an officer in the Nigerian Navy Finance and Logistics College, NNFLC Dawakin Tofa, whose sister was being trafficked through Kano, en route Libya and France, the statement revealed.
The state agencies participating in the Africa-Frontex Intelligence Community (AFIC) have been named in a response to a European parliamentary question. Thirty African states are currently participating in the AFIC. The response also says that "Risk Analysis Cells", of which eight have been set up in African states with the assistance of Frontex, are "the backbone" of the AFIC.
