Kano court remands 72-year-old man over sodomy

A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano, on Tuesday, ordered that a 72-year-old man, Abdulsalam Abubakar, be remanded in a correctional centre pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for allegedly sodomising a 12-year-old boy.
The police had charged Abubakar, who resides in Jakara Quarter, Kano, with unnatural offence.
The Chief Magistrate, Mustapha Sa’ad-Datti, who did not take Abubakar’s plea, ordered the prosecutor to return the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
Sa’ad-Datti, thereafter, adjourned the case till March 24 for mention.
