Volunteers were busy Friday morning in the garden at Aptiv on the city’s south side.
The garden is one of four throughout the city, which rely on help from community members to plant, weed, water and harvest.
From that hard work, vegetables are available for community members.
“A lot of people in La Crosse do not have access, do not have the money for fresh produce. It’s not cheap. So if we can grow food to give away, it’s a terrific thing to do and it’s very satisfying,” said Aptiv Victory Garden coordinator Sue Dillenbeck.
Work on the victory gardens at the La Crosse School District’s Hogan administration building and at city hall will start Saturday.
