A 37-year-old Key First Nation man has been remanded in custody pending a bail hearing March 10 on an assault with a weapon charge. Jason Troy Papequash appeared in Yorkton court Monday after being arrested Saturday when Kamsack RCMP responded to a complaint from the First Nation. Papequash faces a total of eight charges related to the incident including assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm contrary to a court order, careless use of a firearm, two other firearm related charges and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order. Papequash also has outstanding charges out of Melville for mischief and failing to comply with and undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in Kamsack court March 10.

Kamsack-Area Man Imprisoned for Fatal Vehicle/ Pedestrian Collision

By Doug Falconer A Kamsack-area man has admitted his guilt, in connection with a fatal vehicle/ pedestrian collision. Last August, Kamsack RCMP were called to the scene on Highway 8, near the Keeseekoose First Nation. A 23-year-old man from the Kamsack/ Cote First Nation area was pronounced dead at the scene. In Kamsack Provincial Court today (Tue), 29-year-old Lewis Strongquill pled guilty to Driving While Over .08 Causing Death, and he was sentenced to three years in prison, followed by a three-year driving prohibition.

Man charged with abuse, sexual assault

Photo by Photo1 Prepress Fort Qu Appelle RCMP have charged a 23-year-old man from the Muscowpetung First Nation with Sexual Assault, four counts of Assault, and three counts of Failing to Comply with probation after a report made on Tuesday, August 16 by the accused s spouse. The incidents in question happened over the previous month. The accusations include two separate assaults against the couple s infant son where the child was choked on one occasion and bitten on the face on another by the accused. The accused was located and arrested without incident in Fort Qu Appelle on the afternoon of August 17. He has consented to a six-day remand and is scheduled to make his first appearance in Fort Qu Appelle Provincial Court on Thursday, August 25 at 10:00 am.
