What comes to your mind when you think about buying a car in Pakistan – taxes? Duties? Little or almost no safety and quality features … or almost no value for your money?
That’s right; not only this is what is being produced and sold but, at the moment, there is no focus at all on the production of cheap cars having features of international standard.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Power Tabish Gohar said the federal government was all set to raise electricity tariff amount to roughly Rs2 from this month.
He confirmed that the power tariff “increase is inevitable” in January as it was one of the major conditions laid by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the revival of $6 billion aid programme and the need of the power sector.

The debate over inducting latest fighter jets to control skies intensified in Pakistan and India right after the latter received Rafale fighter jets from France.
However, the vigorous debate has now shifted to the Chinese-made J-20 stealth fighter jet because defence analysts say that it will be the real game changer in the region.
Military experts have long been comparing JF-17 Thunder with Rafale aircraft but Air Vice Marshal (retd) Shahzad Chaudhry, while sharing his views in Express News talk show, The Review, said on Saturday that Rafale could be compared with F-16 but it had no one-to-one comparison with even JF-17.
Several tax collectors have yet to file returns

This week, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) surprised tax filers by not extending the date for filing returns and issued notices to roughly 850,000 people over their failure to file returns in time.
The real surprise, however, for the tax collecting authority is that a large number of its 22,000 officials have also yet to file returns – skeleton in the cupboard.
The details surfaced in the Express News’ talk show, The Review, on Saturday night when the anchorpersons – Shahbaz Rana and Kamran Yousaf – shared details of filers and non-filers for the tax year 2020.
