PASIR MAS: The General Operations Force (GOF) has uncovered the existence of a ‘small industry’ involved in the sale of controlled items in a neighbouring country smuggled out through Sungai Golok.
The GOF’s Seventh Battalion (GOF7) commanding officer Supt Azhari Nusi (pix) said items such as cooking oil would be smuggled out little by little to the collection point before being repackaged in the other country.
He said the repackaged oil would be sold at almost double the original price in Malaysia, but it was still in high demand there.
“Apart from cooking oil, many other controlled items are smuggled into neighboring countries through ‘rat lanes’ at illegal bases, such as flour, sugar and fuel.
