Father now charged with capital murder in death of 5-week-old Bessemer boy Updated Feb 03, 2021; Facebook Share Charges have been upgraded against a Jefferson County man in the death of his 5-week-old son. Quinton Artez Arnold, 27, of Hueytown, is now charged with capital murder in the death of Kamari Whitt. Arnold was taken back into custody Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was arrested in Troy and is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Center pending extradition to Jefferson County. Arnold was initially charged with aggravated child abuse and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Friday. He was released on $250,000 bond and then apparently fled to southern Alabama.

(WBRC) - Bessemer police are investigating the death of a 5-week-old boy as a homicide. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the boy as Kamari Whitt. The report says the newborn sustained blunt force injuries on January 27 and died at Children’s Hospital on January 30. Quinton Arnold, 27, is charged with aggravated child abuse.
