VALLEY CITY, N.D. (vcsuvikings.com) – The Valley City State volleyball team dropped a non-conference game in three sets to No. 1 University of Jamestown Tuesday, 25-19, 25-15, 25-18.
The Vikings fall to 4-13 overall and post a 3-5 conference record. No. 1 Jamestown improves to 21-1 overall.
Valley City State recorded 10 blocks to the Jimmies’ five blocks Tuesday. The Vikings couldn’t keep up with nationally-ranked Jamestown though, as the Jimmies tallied 39 kills, 48 digs, and seven ace serves to VCSU’s 25 kills, 32 digs, and one ace serve.
Bailey Nelson and Katie Juarez each tallied six kills for the Vikings Tuesday, while Caitlyn Fischbach and Clara Wieland each finished with five kills. Fischbach added a game-high seven blocks at the net for the Vikings.

Katie Juarez led the Vikings with a team-high 13 kills, nine digs, and five service aces, while Bailey Nelson added 11 kills Friday. Maara Nelson and Dani Schwanke each posted 16 digs to lead the defensive effort while sophomore Caitlyn Fischbach recorded eight total blocks for the Vikings.
Valley City State falls to 4-11 overall and 3-4 in conference play. Waldorf improves to 3-9 overall and earned its first conference victory Friday as the Warriors are 1-7 in the NSAA.
DICKINSON, N.D. (vcsuvikings.com) – The Valley City State volleyball team dropped a five-set battle to Dickinson State in a non-conference matchup Monday, 26-24, 17-25, 16-25, 27-15, 12-15.
Dickinson State started out to an early 11-7 lead in the first set when Valley City State took a 9-1 run to build a 16-12 lead. The Blue Hawks rallied back to tie the set at 20-20 on a kill from Ashlyn Hamilton. Then, trailing 24-23, VCSU scored the next three straight points including a Bailey Nelson kill to take set one, 26-24.
The Vikings narrowly trailed 10-7 in the second set when the Blue Hawks took a 6-1 rally to lead 16-8. Valley City State got back within four points on a kill from Bailey Nelson at 19-15 but couldn’t get closer as Dickinson State took the second set 25-17.
