‘Speed up Nadu-Nedu works under health sector on priority’
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered the officials of the Medical, Health & Family Welfare Department to finalise the tenders for the construction of new medical colleges and augmentation of infrastructure in the existing ones by April 15.
He has also directed that steps be taken for speedy execution of works under the Nadu-Nedu programme in the health sector in tune with the priority attached to it by the government.
Addressing a review meeting on Thursday on the programme under which development works were being taken up at an estimated cost of ₹16,270 crore, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said emphasis should be laid on the establishment of YSR urban and village clinics, which were intended to take healthcare to the grassroots level.

Komirepalli (Andhra Pradesh): Following the emergence of mysterious illness cases in Eluru in December and Pulla recently, similar ailments appear to have spread to Komirepalli village in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district Friday.
Komirepalli is 17 km south-west of Pulla, where around 30 cases emerged recently, with symptoms such as fainting, frothing, convulsions, vomiting, among others.
Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas said upto 22 cases emerged in Komirepalli village since Thursday midnight, which is 15 km north east of Eluru , where hundreds of such cases had earlier shocked the nation.

25 suffer epilepsy, fever, convulsions
In yet another outbreak of mysterious disease in Komirepalli village in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, 25 villagers were taken ill with epilepsy, convulsions, giddiness, fever and other symptoms on Friday.
Patients were rushed to the Eluru District Government Headquarters Hospital and to the local Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs).
Following the directions of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das, Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Anil Kumar Singhal, Commissioner Katamneni Bhaskar and other officers called on the patients at Komirepalli and enquired about their health.
