Rap legend Da Brat says that coming out as gay has “been a weight lifted” and she couldn’t be happier to be public about her relationship with Jesseca Dupart, CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products.
When it came time to share the news with the world, the two women would joke about who was going to post about the relationship on social media first. “We were at my mom’s house and we were joking about it,” Dupart tells
The Advocate. “She was like, ‘I’m going to post it first,’ I was like, ‘No, I’m going to post it first!’ I wound up doing it first and was like, ‘Oh, bitch, we just went public.’”
Rapper turned radio host Da Brat and beauty entrepreneur Jesseca Dupart have been on cloud nine since publicly coming out together in March 2020. In an exclusive interview set to air on the
Tamron Hall Show Monday, Feb. 1st, the couple will speak on their decision to come out via social media, and the reactions that followed.
In this exclusive clip, Da Brat reveals that she and Dupart went back and forth about which one of them would be the first to break the news. In the end, it turned out to be Dupart. To the couple’s delight, they were met with overwhelming support. “I got so much love and so many people saying wonderful things and supportive things to me,” says Da Brat.
