LISBON A Wellsville area man who slipped out of a cruiser window and shoved a deputy in a bid to escape detention in October called his own actions “truly foolish” and “stupid” during a hearing Thursday before Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Washam.
Kaleb J. Farnsworth, 26, 15th Street, Wellsville, apologized for his actions and for any injuries he may have caused to deputies and EMS while he was under the influence of drugs. During his sentencing hearing, Farnsworth admitted he has had a substance abuse problem, which he had never taken as seriously as he should.
Washam said he was troubled by the assault and escape charges, one a fourth-degree felony and the other a third-degree felony. According to the charges, Farnsworth managed to get the back window of a sheriff’s cruiser down, crawled out the window and ran down state Route 39 in Washington Township on Oct. 6.
