In spring 2019, after leading Ohio State in scoring and rebounding as a sophomore, Kaleb Wesson participated in the NBA’s pre-draft process.
The feedback from scouts was clear: At 6-foot-9, 285 pounds, Wesson needed to shed weight to have a shot at the sport’s highest level. Now, after dropping 30 pounds and earning second team All-Big Ten honors as a junior with the Buckeyes, he is competing for the Warriors’ open two-way contract.
Why Warriors are encouraging Marquese Chriss and Kevon Looney to shoot 3 s

Warriors’ center Marquese Chriss is a career 29 percent 3-point shooter. In Tuesday’s preseason game against the Kings, he made 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Marc Gasol might be past his prime at age 35, but he was one of the Warriors’ top targets in free agency.
His combination of size, interior defense and 3-point shooting would have made him the ideal complement to more traditional big men Kevon Looney, Marquese Chriss and James Wiseman in Golden State’s center rotation. But when Klay Thompson tore his right Achilles tendon during a pickup game last month, the Warriors’ title hopes were effectively quashed. And someone such as Gasol is looking to get another ring before retirement.
