KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) On Tuesday, May 4, voters in Kalamazoo County will decide whether or not an increase of a millage for the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) will be approved or not.
According to a sample ballot from the Michigan Secretary of State, the language for the proposal is written as follows:
“This proposal will allow the intermediate school district (KRESA) to continue to levy special education millage previously approved by the electors and restores millage lost as a result of the reduction required by the Headlee Amendment to the Michigan Constitution of 1963.”

Important Calhoun County Voting Decisions Coming Up Next Week
A week from today, thousands of Calhoun County residents will be voting on some local issues. Most are school-related. The Calhoun County Elections office has information posted about voting options, including voting in person. Battle Creek and Lakeview Public School districts have the largest financial questions up for decision.

Battle Creek Public School administrators are asking for approval of a $44 million dollar bond issue. The purpose is a wide range of building and renovation projects throughout the district. The plan also calls for purchasing and installing some new technology systems at the district school buildings. In addition, playgrounds and even parking lots will see upgrades if the Battle Creek Schools bond issue is approved.

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI Local voters will consider two school-related proposals appearing on Kalamazoo County ballots next Tuesday, May 4.
Countywide, voters will consider the renewal of a special-education tax that assists nine school districts and voters in the Galesburg-Augusta district will consider a multimillion-dollar bond for facility upgrades in Tuesday’s election.
Michigan voters can now register to vote through the date of the election if they vote in-person at their local clerk’s office. For those voting absentee, ballots must be returned to the appropriate city or township clerk by the close of polls at 8 p.m. on the day of the election.
