MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has converted a massive plot of land being used to dump garbage and full of encroachments into a garden in Malad (west).
Called the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Garden, the BMC has planted over 4,000 saplings in the park spread over 2.75 lakh square feet.
There were over 500 hutments on the plot which the BMC removed to create the garden located on Marve Road.
According to the BMC officials, the plot was taken over by the civic body in 2002 but was lying unused since then.
