The Gauhati High Court on Tuesday has directed the Senior Government Advocate Nagaland to take up the matter of appointment of counsel for Nagaland Lokayukta with State Chief Secretary.
Kohima: The Independent Committee constituted by the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, for Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR), stated that the work status reflected in the affidavit submitted by the state is “correct”. The counsel for the petitioner also submitted that the ongoing work of the medical college has been “correctly projected” in the affidavit by the Independent Committee, a bench of justices Kakheto Sema and Kardak Ete stated while hearing the matter on Wednesday. The Court had on March 15 constituted an Independent Committee to carry out the physical verification of the NIMSR to authenticate the statements of the state respondents in their affidavit with regard to the status report of the medical college building. Kohima As the Kohima Bench has commemorated 75th years of Gauhati High Court, Justice Kakheto Sema, on April 5, expressed hope that the ‘long-cherished’ dream of the people of the state to have a separate high court would be fulfilled soon. “The need to have a separate and independent High Court for Nagaland has been voiced by the Bar and dynamically pursued by members of the legal fraternity for many years now,” he said. “The Article 214 of the Constitution of India envisages that there should be a High Court for each state.
