Charlie Favia of Kihei rides through a Puunene dust cloud kicked up gusting winds Saturday morning along Maui Veterans Highway. Favia said the trade winds can be a hindrance or a help on the Kihei-Kahului round trip. “You’ve got to get up early to beat the trades,” he said. “And then it is a cruise going back.
