CEDAR FALLS, IA. (WFIE) - Senior Eryn Gould hit the 25th home run of her University of Evansville career and is now alone in third place on the Purple Aces all-time list. She hit a leadoff home run on Saturday with the Aces falling by a 9-1 final in the series finale against UNI.
Gould’s home run gave Evansville (17-11, 5-4 MVC) a 1-0 lead in the first inning before the Panthers (15-13, 7-2 MVC) scored five in the bottom of the second before pulling away for the win.

Game 2: 8-0 win vs. Northern Iowa
Freshman Jaala Torrence got the start in the circle for Crimson Tide in game two. The Dothan, Alabama native recorded her first career win and first career shutout in one game.
Torrence struck out three of the 18 batters that she faced and allowed no hits and no walks in five innings.
Sophomore Savannah Woodard was the reason for Torrence’s five inning outing. In game two for Alabama Woodard recorded her first career walk off grand slam.
At the bottom of the fifth Northern Iowa replaced their starting pitcher Kailyn Packard, with freshman Hailey Sanders.

Alabama comes into the weekend 15-0. They are 8-0 versus “Power” schools and 3-0 against SEC foes in “friendlies”. In 2019, the Crimson Tide started out 33-0 before their first loss. That season they made it all the way to the Final Four of the World Series.

After losing to Oregon this past week, UCLA dropped down in some of the polls, which allowed Alabama to move up. The Crimson Tide is in the second spot in one poll. They are No. 3 in two others and fourth in another.
