Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Sweeps UNC-Pembroke on the Road

The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team earned a pair of clutch wins on Sunday afternoon against UNC-Pembroke at UNCP Softball Field. The Bears took game one in nine innings, 6-5, and were down to their final strike in game two before rallying for a six-run seventh inning to stun the Braves, 10-6.
In game one that the Bears won 6-5, the Braves got on the board with back-to-back home runs by Tatum Brummitt and Emily Biddle to open the bottom of the second. LR cut the lead in half with an unearned run in the top of the 4th. Lauren Rakes scored after an throwing error by the Braves pitcher. Lenoir-Rhye Softball Starts Season With Doubleheader Sweep

Savannah Moorefield’s walk-off single in the bottom of the 7th capped off a four-run inning as the Bears came back to beat Pfeiffer 7-6 in game one. In game two, freshman McKayla Watts got her first career win in the circle as the Bears finished off the sweep of Pfeiffer 8-0 to open their 2021 season.
In game one, Talon LaClair got the Bears on the board with an RBI double in the bottom of the first but the Bears left bases loaded to end the inning. After the Falcons got two runs in the top of the second, junior Kailey Travis tied it up with a solo blast in the bottom half. It was Travis’ first colligate homerun. Pfeiffer’s Makenzie Pennell gave the Falcons a 5-2 lead with a three-run blast in the top of the fourth
