Share NEGOTIATIONS with bandits in KatsinaState by the state government, security agencies and Miyetti Allah have resulted in the release of 181 kidnap victims. Government and security forces said they plan to extend the negotiations to bandits in other ‘vulnerable’ northern states. Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State, on Friday, said no fewer than 181 kidnapped victims had been rescued from the bandits through negotiations in recent time. He made this known while receiving another set of 77 kidnapped persons at the Government House, Katsina. According to the governor, the victims were released by their captors after negotiations led by the state government, in collaboration with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN),  the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army,  Nigerian Air Force, Department of State Service and other security agencies.

Israel blocked cancer patient from leaving Gaza for emergency treatment nine times this year

ISRAELI authorities blocked a Palestinian leukaemia patient from receiving emergency treatment on at least nine occasions this year, the World Health Organisation said in its annual report on barriers to healthcare in the occupied territories. According to Kafa, a 55-year-old woman from Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, Israeli authorities only allowed her to leave the besieged territory once to receive vital hospital treatment. “I submitted 10 permit applications to Israeli authorities to cross Erez to reach treatment, but they only approved one of my applications, she said, referring to the sole border crossing between Gaza and Israel. Kafa was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia in August 2018 and underwent chemotherapy at the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Younis. After a relapse, she was referred to Istishari Hospital in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
