أصبحت مصر في عهد الرئيس عبدالفتاح السيسي، أكبر دولة مصدرة للبرتقال في العالم، وأخذت مكانة بعيدة عن أقرب منافسة لها وهي إسبانيا، وفقا لصحيفة الاندبيندينته الأسبانية (El independiente)، التي أشارت في تقرير لها لوجود أمرين جعل هذا البلد يتصدر العالم أجمع في تصدير هذه الفاكهة.
وأكد التقرير أنه بالرغم من أن 95٪ من مساحة مصر عبارة عن صحراء، إلا أن البلاد بها ما يقرب من 168000 هكتار من أشجار البرتقال تنتشر عبر جغرافيتها القاحلة كما لو كانت سرابًا، وليس فقط في مناطق دلتا النيل حيث إن 60٪ منها تقع في المناطق الصحراوية المستصلحة.

A serial vandal, troublemakers who assaulted police and even a man who stole
women’s underwear, pyjamas, slippers and a box of hair dye are among defendants punished in court.
There was also a violent hothead who caused a rival to fall onto the railway line at Grimsby station as well as people who were found with knives, a fraudster and a series of drink-drivers.
Also in court was a man who stole more than £350 from the manager of the Seven Seas in Grimsby.
