What started as a competitive game of runs got out of hand in the third quarter as the Red Storm embarked on a 24-1 run that turned this game into a blowout. For the Red Storm, sophomore guard Leilani Correa tied her career high with 35 points, while junior guard Kadaja Bailey added a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Graduate guard Milan Bolden-Morris led the Hoyas with 18 points, and sophomore forward Graceann Bennett flirted with a double-double, recording 9 points and 12 rebounds.

All five starters for DePaul (7-3, 4-1 Big East) scored in double figures. Deja Church added 18 points and nine rebounds, and Jorie Allen and Sonya Morris each scored 17 points. Morris also had nine assists and Allen grabbed seven rebounds. DePaul opened the game on an 11-2 run with scoring from five different players, and led 26-14 after the first quarter. Church, Held and Allen combined for 35 points in the first half to help the Blue Demons lead 51-31.

The win came after an eight day layoff caused by the postponement of games against Butler and Creighton. The Blue Demons showed absolutely no rust from the long break. DePaul scored first and never lost the lead. Their biggest lead was 26 points midway through the third quarter. DePaul led in most team categories, except for bench points, with St. John s outscoring DePaul 19-6. DePaul led in points in the paint (56-48), points from turnovers (27-12), second chance points (19-9) and fast break points (33-30).
