A young Breea Lisko and her classmates gathered excitedly to watch America’s first teacher head to space. It was Jan. 28, 1986, and the space shuttle Challenger was moments away from liftoff. Lisko remembers the boxy cathode-ray-tube television wheeled in on a cart; the teacher turning off the classroom lights; the choir of her classmates’ countdown in joyful unison.
