Bengaluru, Dec 15 : Visibly angry over the deputy chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council S. L. Dharme Gowda being manhandled by the members in the Upper House, Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa on Tuesday insisted that the Council chairman K. Pratapchandra Shetty must resign immediately as he does not enjoy the support of majority in the House.
Speaking to reporters here, Yediyurappa said events that took place in the Upper House are unprecedented in the country s democratic history of the parliament.

Bengaluru: On the day when his party expressed its support to the no-confidence motion moved by the ruling BJP to replace the Legislative Council Chairman, Janata Dal-Secular supremo, H.D. Deve Gowda on Tuesday said that they will strongly oppose the move to pass the Bill to prohibit cow slaughter in the state.
In a statement, he said that the Bill prohibiting cow slaughter passed in the Assembly last week would not only disturb the communal harmony but also the peace in the state.
