Dimapur, January 21 (MExN): With the announcement of General Election the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the Model Code of Conduct which has come into force within the state of Nagaland with immediate effect. 

Nagaland observes International Adoption Month

Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) under the department of Social Welfare observed the ‘International Adoption Month’ alongside with the observation of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25 at the directorate conference hall of Social Welfare department. An update from SARA stated that November is celebrated as International Adoption Month. As the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), being the nodal body for the adoption under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015, it stated that the adoption month is observed in all over the states. The State Adoption Resource Agency Nagaland, being the state level monitoring agency under CARA to promote and regulate adoption, it stated Nagaland also participated by observing the adoption month on the theme “Promotion of legal adoption” with the rest of the countries. Nagaland commemorates Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): Commemorating the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women,’ the department of Social Welfare organised a special programme on November 25 in the conference hall of its directorate on the theme “Unite! Activism to end violence against women and girls.” In her opening remarks, Juliana Medom, supervisor of Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB), highlighted the significance of the day by stating that in the year 1993, the United Nations General Assembly designated November 25 as the day to observe ‘International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women.” She added that also marked the start of the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence, culminating on Human Rights Day which falls on December 10. She pointed out that health, nutrition, education and economic development of a country cannot progress without addressing women empowerment, and women empowerment cannot happen without addressing gender-based violen
