At a time when the State is claiming to be going through economic distress, the government on Thursday upgraded
MLAs heading boards and corporations to
Cabinet Minister rank from the State Minister rank.
This means more perks and staff. On an average, the government spends at least Rs 5 lakh on a Cabinet Minister besides the cost of running an office and salaries of personal staff.
