Transgender woman Yasin Ahmed Sokal has won the title of second runner-up in “Miss Evergreen Bangladesh 2023.” This is the first time that a trans woman has competed and won an award at a beauty pageant in Bangladesh.
Actress Jyotika Jyoti signed a new short film, titled "Nishibok", bringing to life a story from a night during the Liberation War. Director Sajjad Zahir has undertaken this project with the support of a government grant for the fiscal year 2022-23. The production is expected to kick off as early as next month.

Yesterday her film "Bangamata", was screened in different venues across the country, on the occasion of National Day of Mourning. Under the direction of Goutam Koiri, this short film casts Jyotika Jyoti as Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, a persona deeply ingrained in the chronicles of Bangladesh's history.
