The Indian government has not outlined any plans to phase out its old coal-based thermal power plants, according to Power Minister R K Singh. He said that thermal plant operators have been advised to enable the integration of wind and solar power into the grid wherever feasible, by implementing Renovations & Modernisation (R&M) and Life Extension (LE) of their units for running up to 2030 or beyond or operating in two-shift mode.
