SCRANTON — A city teenager was found guilty Friday of first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old man during a fight last year near Scranton High School.
Jackson County State s Attorney Joseph Cervantez said charging minors as adults means they would face stronger consequences, which he believes will serve as a deterrent to other juveniles.
The Indiana Supreme Court is warning lawmakers to fix a legal loophole before dozens of juveniles accused in adult court of serious and violent crimes could see their criminal cases overturned.
