Although the proposed budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year has seen around 6 percent increase compared to the outgoing budget, allocation for at least 13 ministries and divisions has reduced. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed the budget at the parliament today. The proposed budget is Tk 6,03,681 crore for the 2021-22 FY while it was Tk 5,68,000 in the previous year.

The Jatiya Sangsad today reconstituted six parliamentary standing committees on different ministries.
Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury on behalf of Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina proposed the reconstitution.
Later, the proposals were adopted by voice votes with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Awami League MP Tanvir Shakil Joy from Sirajganj-1 was made the member of the parliamentary watchdog on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry while AL MP Mohammad Habib Hasan from Dhaka-18 was made member of the parliamentary standing committee on Textile and Jute Ministry.
Jute is back in golden glory again: Dastagir

Dhaka, Dec 15, 2020 [BSS)- Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi said that Bengal’s jute has returned to its golden glory.
The minister was speaking at a fair and exhibition of multipurpose jute products at the Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC) in the capital today noon, said a release here.
“The lost glory and tradition of jute has come back. New and versatile products made of jute is constantly being discovered,” the minister said.
“Jute products are no more old and traditional…The old products have now moved to new heights with various new products,” he added.
