The softball season started in late February for most high school teams but it felt like it just began last week. Rain, rain and more rain and then Spring Break week has gotten the season off to a soggy, sporadic start.
Most teams were able to get in two or three games last week and every schedule is full for the rest of the season. Last week’s play was indicative of the season with spotty fielding and poor timing at the plate. The weather has played a factor for most teams.
Cotter rained down 14 3-pointers Wednesday and held off Parkers Chapel 63-57 in the 2A State Basketball Tournament in Mansfield. The Lady Trojans finished the season with a 25-7 record.
MENA - Parkers Chapel started fast Friday and pounded Spring Hill 60-43 to advance to the championship game of the 2A South Regional. The Lady Trojans improved to 25-5 and will play the host Acorn Saturday night at 6.
ACORN - Parkers Chapel punched its ticket for the 2A State Tournament with a hard-fought 47-43 victory over Horatio Thursday, during the 2A South Regional. The Lady Trojans improved to 24-5 and will play Spring Hill in the semifinals Friday at 7 p.m.
