Triad infectious disease expert talks COVID-19, delta variant

COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to increase throughout the state. WXII spoke with an infectious disease expert from Wake Forest Baptist Health to break it all down. As the positivity rate rises to nearly 9% in our state, locally in Forsyth County, Dr. Chris Ohl with Wake Forest Baptist Health said cases are also rising in unvaccinated people.“Our cases are up, Forsyth County, they are probably up 200%, 250% from where they were a few weeks ago, but that is going from a very small number to kind of a modestly high number,” said Dr. Chris Ohl, Infectious Diseases Expert with Wake Forest Baptist Health. Throughout the state, hospitalizations are also on the rise. More than 940 people are battling COVID-19 in North Carolina hospitals. Greensboro police arrest man for murder of gas station employee

Click the video player above for initial information.Police have arrested a man for the murder of a gas station employee that happened in Greensboro on July 1.Avion Bell, 19, was arrested for the murder of Patricia Grant, 72. Grant was a manager at the Speedway on Battleground Avenue.Bell was charged with first-degree murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm and robbery with a dangerous weapon.He s being held at the Guilford County Jail without bond. Police said they responded to the Speedway, located at 2834 Battleground Avenue, just after 6 a.m. July 1 in reference to an aggravated assault. Officers said they found Grant suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries later that day. WXII 12 News spoke with Avery Courter.
