Today is Election Day, and polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. across Portage County.
Faith Lyon, director of the Portage County Board of Elections, said early voting turnout has been light, and she is projecting a 32 percent turnout for the election. She expects ballots to be counted by 10 p.m. today.
Early voting ended at 2 p.m. Monday. Those who have had absentee ballots mailed to them have until 7:30 p.m. today to hand-deliver them to the drop box in the Board of Elections parking lot of the county administration building, 449 S. Meridian St., Ravenna. Ballots returned by mail needed to be postmarked by Monday, May 3.

WEST POINT, OHIO Windy Renee Van Dyke, of West Point, passed away from a longtime heart condition Monday, January 25, 2021. She was 32.
Born in East Liverpool, July 31, 1988, she was a daughter of Linda Kidder Van Dyke of West Point and the late Carter Lee Van Dyke, Sr. A resident of this area all her life, she was a member of the Beaver Local High School Class of 2006. She was Christian by faith.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Brooklynn Marie Sullivan and a son, Warrick Eugene Lee Tanner, both at home. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Connie Kidder of West Point, a sister, Lindsey Van Dyke and her fiance Bobby Shaffer, a brother, Carter Van Dyke, Jr. and his wife Brittany, a special niece, Maddalynn Shaffer, four aunts, Susan Ring and her husband Mark, Cheryl Morris and her husband Joe, Lora Eiler and Diane Decker, and three uncles, William Van Dyke II, Mark Van Dyke and his wife Holly, and Bill Snyder.
