As the total number of COVID cases in the state of Florida gradually falls and we turn our hopes toward vaccines to bring this year of pandemic to a close, we begin to see the aftermath of the virus.
As of March 6, the state of Florida had seen 1.94 million total COVID cases, 31,521 deaths due to COVID and over 600,000 Floridians becoming unemployed. For a large portion of the people who survived the viral infection, their health problems did not end when their body cleared the virus.
Although the true impact of what is beginning to be known as “post-COVID syndrome” is still being elucidated, it has become clear that a large portion of patients will suffer from post-COVID syndrome in some capacity with symptoms including fatigue, difficulty breathing, loss or changed sense of taste/smell, achiness and psychological distress.
