Summer Food Service Program to Return in Charles City – KCHA News

markp6 hours agoLast Updated: May 13, 2021 The Summer Food Service Program providing free meals to students in the Charles City School District is back for another summer. After the school year is completed, participating students can receive two meals each weekday through July 30th. Communications Director Justin DeVore says how those meals are distributed will change. Instead of meals being picked up at Washington Elementary School, the district will look to make deliveries more convenient with multiple “neighborhood” pickup locations which have yet to be determined. DeVore adds while signing up early would be helpful in establishing the neighborhood pickup spots, families are also still welcome to sign up on a weekly basis. DeVore adds because of federal pandemic assistance, meals have been provided to the district’s students throughout the entire school year free of charge.
