The fishery department of the state government has collected fish samples and sent them for formaldehyde testing to research institutes in Guwahati and Cochin. The case involves a petition seeking a ban on transportation of fish with formaldehyde to the state. High court directed the department to take action to restrict the use of formaldehyde in fish.
The oath taking of the judge who was recommended along with Unni Krishnan Nair was put on hold in order to ensure that seniority of Nair was not affected. The government eventually cleared Nair's name.
